Mike Mishler grew up in the heartland of America - Indiana. In this wholesome environment, he was surrounded by Amish and Mennonite communities. Clearly, the influence of these historically fine artisans and craftsmen have had a powerful impact on the quality and detail in the work Mike produces today.
Mike began his formal education at Indiana University/Purdue University, completing his formal education at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, culminating in his certification as a radiology technician. For the next six years, Mike worked in the hospital radiology department providing direct patient care.
Mike’s career then took a very different turn. Failing to see real career growth in his position at the hospital, he took a
calculated risk. Having always enjoyed working with his hands, Mike made an offer to a fellow churchman who had a construction firm; he would work for him for one week at no
cost. If, at the conclusion of that week the owner was satisfied with Mike’s work, he could offer him full employment. Obviously impressed with
Mike’s skill, he offered Mike a position. For the next six years, he worked in various areas of construction and moved into a supervisory role for condominium projects
in Northeast Indiana. During that time, he built his first home – for his own family.
In 1980, construction declined sharply in Indiana. Mike worked a long term project building hotels for the next several years. In 1983, an offer was
presented to Mike in Texas managing a condominium project for an Indiana developer, Signal Development Corp. Leaving his lifelong home, Mike and family moved to
Texas. The following two years saw Mike managing a mammoth condominium project in Rockwall, Texas. Prior to the completion of the project, it was sold to another
developer. Lacking a comfort level with the new owners, Mike elected to leave the project and begin his own business.
The beginnings of Mishler Builders, Inc. included a mix of commercial and residential work. Early projects included a 50 unit apartment complex in Longview, a number of physician and dental offices, as well as a multi-purpose general office complex. Additionally, Mike remained active in the field of radiology. He worked as a part time radiology technician at LakePoint Hospital in Rockwall. Mike’s knowledge and experience in the medical arena was extremely helpful in working with others from the healthcare environment. In the residential construction arena, Mike assisted several Savings and Loan organizations in completing homes under construction. With a reputation for outstanding work, Mike was able to build a strong business based on referrals without additional advertising.
Mishler Builders, Inc. is a family business. Mike’s wife provides the accounting for the organization. The teams of specialists used by Mishler Builders’ projects are chosen for the quality and consistency of their work. The company offers the finest in custom built homes, remodeling, as well as commercial construction.
Mike freely admits that there are many good builders in the North Texas market. He feels, however, that his personal involvement with customers makes the building process much more enjoyable for all concerned. Mike is happy to work with customers presenting their own plans as well as those who have previously purchased land for their home. Recalling the creativity he observed from the Amish and Mennonite communities of his youth, Mike welcomes opportunities to “step out of the box” and look at new and innovative ideas to meet the customer’s needs. He builds between two and three homes per year, thereby allowing enough time to convert the dream into the home.
The success of Mishler Builders, Inc. is built on a long list of exceptionally satisfied customers. Nearly 50% of the company’s work comes from repeat customers, while another 40% comes from referrals. Mishler homes can be seen in areas such as Windymere, Buffalo Creek, and Heartstone. Other locations are scattered throughout the North Texas landscape from Greenville to Wylie, Terrell to East Dallas.
With a constant eye on continuous improvement, Mike has demonstrated his commitment to building his knowledge and skills in construction by earning the designations of Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Builder, and CertifiedGraduateRemodeler. With this combination of commitment to customer satisfaction and excellence, it is easy to see why Mishler Builders, Inc. is a sought after builder in North Texas.
